The newest Chapter 7 trustee in the Alexandria VA, Bankruptcy Court is Lauren Friend McKelvey.
There are four trustees here, and when your case is filed, you are assigned to one of the four. You are required to "appear" for a hearing in front of your trustee, and those hearings are now on Zoom.
The trustees do 14 cases per hour, so each hearing is usually quick and painless. They ask did you go over your papers when you signed them? Are you still at the same address, and do you have alimony and child support?
The job of the trustee is to find out if you have something valuable they can sell, and then sell it. Most people don't.
Ms. Friend McKelvey is a partner in a New York law firm, with lots of experience in business start-ups and financing. The court here sees few of those cases; maybe she expects more.
